“The Covid is a crisis because it forced a lot of shippers to shut down..there are some people who figured out how to respond to that, who had built something antifragile so they can actually be in a position to serve five times the demand. There were a lot of people confused, running around even more with their heads and on fire, trying to figure out how to just glue things together and survive. And I think that’s a lesson for me, for Leaf — don’t try to tell me when the next hurricane is going to happen. Be more hurricane-proof.” — Anshu Prasad, CEO, and Co-Founder of Leaf Logistics

Anshu Prasad is a future-thinking leader driven by the desire to help all stakeholders in the logistics industry. His passion for entrepreneurship has been evident throughout his career, which he began in a startup environment. His curiosity, combined with a deep background in analytics and a team of technologists with significant domain expertise, has produced Leaf’s platform. Before founding Leaf, Anshu built and led A.T. Kearney’s global Analytics practice, working with clients to utilize technology and data to empower business transformation. He helped start and grow an analytics technology business and led its expansion into Europe.
During the talk, Prasad shared his concern about the consequences Covid-19 had on transportation and logistics and explained how important it is for companies to take another approach and be prepared for this kind of “hurricane,” as he calls it the future.
Be more hurricane-proof.”
He also pointed out that the competition on the market is fierce and that one of the ways organizations can get ahead of the curve is to explore a world of opportunities outside their mini-network.
“Optimizing for the little mini-network that you see, you’re going to miss the ocean…And how much of the pattern now can you see in your mini-network so you can operate that better, more intelligently with better reliability and lower costs. But then, outside your network, and roughly even for some of the very large shippers that we’re working with by millions of dollars of trucking every year, there are a thousand times as many opportunities outside of their mini-network that are inside to find efficiency.”
When it comes to Leaf logistics and how it differentiates from the rest on the market, Prasad explains that their biggest priority is to build things with technology that can optimize processes and solve the big problems for the people in the transportation industry.
“…And so from a Lief standpoint, the biggest priority is on building things with technology. Once you figure out the big problems, building things with technology that is at least ten times better than the way that they’re solved today…the more that we can focus on things that we can make better with tools and data, the more strategic it is for Leaf.”
Allowing people to do the jobs they love maximizes their potential and helps them grow. Prasad believes that people deserve jobs where they can bring the highest value and become better at things they are already good at.
“… People deserve problems that are worth their talent, like why would we ask someone to do something routine on a transactional basis when they could be adding so much more value somewhere else?…But the idea is that’s on all of us as humans to make sure that we’re growing and understanding our blind spots and getting better at the things that we are good at and want to get better at…”
Finally, Prasad shared his thoughts on the partnership between HTEC Group and Leaf Organisation and HTEC’s hyper-growth mindset.
“I think of HTEC as two things: One is a hyper-growth, really fascinating company run by great people…and also as an extension of our technology team as we build and iterate for the future…”
