There seems to be a profound link between component communication and emergent intelligence. We are beginning to engineer systems which manifest intelligence as a result of the way their components are coupled.

Neural networks have scaled to such a size that it is becoming impossible to track their internal working and representation. We may need to apply novel approaches to understand how these models work internally.

The language of psychology is gradually becoming ever more applicable to analysis of large language models and their internal models. Combining mathematics and psychology may be a new evaluation paradigm for artificial intelligence and intelligence in general.

Understanding artificial intelligence will demand understanding intelligence in general—an endeavor that will require expanding beyond standard mathematical analysis tools.
