HTEC Cares: Blood Donation Initiative in Three Countries

To celebrate World Blood Donor Day 2022, HTEC organized the first voluntary blood donation initiative in our offices in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia, and seven cities in total – Belgrade, Niš, Novi Sad, Subotica, Banja Luka, Tuzla, and Skopje.

The response was amazing, with over a hundred people applying, and almost 80 donating blood. We are thrilled that among them, there was a great number of those who were first-time donors. Hopefully, breaking the ice will motivate us all to keep up with this wonderful practice. To make the impact even stronger, each team member who donated blood got a complimentary charity voucher to donate to a humanitarian organization of their own choice.

By organizing this initiative, we wanted to make this process more convenient for all our colleagues, whether they are first-time or regular donors. It was particularly important to us that the first-time donors feel supported and safe, and we hope that being surrounded by so many great people helped them overcome any potential concerns they might have had.

And, judging by how some of our first-time donors saw this event, we managed to accomplish this aim:

I have been trying to make myself donate blood for quite some time, but fear would always get the better of me. HTEC’s initiative helped me overcome that fear, as I had all those colleagues and friends by my side. By donating blood, we can really save someone’s life, and I am very glad I could help. I think the complementary charity voucher we got from the company was a very nice addition, making this good deed twofold.
