About the project
Initially catering to an older demographic, Bitstamp, a digital asset company, entrusted Momentum Design Lab, an HTEC Group company, with redesigning its platform—all to broaden its audience and draw in a younger and more diverse clientele. To accomplish this, Momentum implemented a strategic approach encompassing everything from research and discovery, UX strategy, design, and development.
The resulting transformation led Bitstamp to new highs, helping it achieve a position in the top 10 of its category. In addition, the work on this project was recognized with a UX Design Award in 2023. Find out more about the award here.
The overarching challenge Bitstamp faced was strengthening its market position, which it sought to achieve by opening up to a broader, younger, and more diverse audience. The challenge required a usability upgrade of its digital asset platform, allowing for co-creation and collaboration.
Following a thorough discovery phase wherein Momentum interviewed stakeholders to identify areas of improvement and potential opportunities. The latest technology trends were also reviewed and the current state of Bitmap’s solution was assessed, which provided valuable insights for the next steps. What followed was the development of the user persona and the user journey, which led to a tailored product roadmap, functional wireframes, and innovative visual design.
As a result, Momentum delivered a digital asset platform that provides an engaging and user-friendly experience. The solution was further advanced by splitting Bitstamp’s product offering into Bitstamp Pro for advanced users and Bitstamp Go for younger, less seasoned crypto traders. The latter was built to be more engaging and familiar to users, with guidance throughout their trading journeys.
