Jammcard: Setting the beat for app-based music industry networking

Project: Inventing a mobile app to facilitate music industry connections

Jammcard is an invite-only music industry networking application that allows music professionals to create and share portfolios that highlight their skills and experience.

This innovative music industry networking app is the result of a collaboration between well-known LA musician Elmo Lovano and the HTEC team. Jammcard and HTEC developed the app to facilitate bookings, communication, and networking between music industry professionals.

Challenge: Music industry networking is challenging

In a crowded music market, finding new talent or networking with potential band members, tour crews, and studio teams, can be quite challenging.

On top of that, the music industry is constantly evolving, so keeping up-to-date with the community is essential to producing music that resonates with today’s audiences. Jammcard’s mission has always been to support the needs of professional musicians, but it needed help perfecting a mobile music industry networking mobile app.

Solution: Native mobile app that accommodates musicians’ lifestyles

The HTEC team produced native iOS and Android applications for Jammcard, designed primarily to accommodate musicians’ mobile lifestyles. The app provides a range of services to promote, gather and analyze data.

When music industry pros are looking for something specific, the Jammcard app allows them to narrow down the list of potential candidates by genre, skills, gender, and even by what gear they use.

By partnering with HTEC, Jammcard became the first invite-only social media app for music professionals with a vetted network of members to connect with: musicians, producers, singers, songwriters, directors, technicians, managers, and live/studio engineers.

The HTEC team developed the following Jammcard app features:

  • Search functionality for musicians to find band members, tour crews, or studio teams
  • Networking and messaging features
  • The ability to discover curated member spotlights and top upvoted members
  • An activity feed displaying users’ most recent and interesting shared activity
  • Functionality allowing musicians to book sessions, lessons, mentorships, and virtual gigs

In addition to helping musicians send messages and present detailed experience, endorsements, and contact information, the platform also has sections to organize links to audio and video files, and an events calendar for upcoming concerts. All these features allow for a fresh approach to music industry networking.

Success: Launching “the musician’s LinkedIn” app

Forbes magazine hailed Jammcard as “the musician’s LinkedIn,” as it allows music industry professionals, from studio engineers to performers, to flesh out their profiles and connect with influential people to find work and collaborate.

With Jammcard, music professionals now have a vetted music industry networking platform backed by cutting-edge technology that enables them to build relationships with people from all over the music industry.

Launching "the musician's LinkedIn" app

With the help of HTEC’s mobile app development, the Jammcard app won gold at the 2019 W3 Awards for Best Mobile App in Social Media. Jammcard has also expanded from Los Angeles to New York, and plans to keep expanding, starting with notable music capitals such as Nashville and London.
